Dear Alumna/Alumnus,
Below we would like to share with you our latest and most important news of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest (UNIVET Budapest).
UNIVET has gone online: the education of future veterinarians continues
The worldwide emergence of the coronavirus has necessitated several preventive measures that affect our University. The leadership of our institution pays special attention to the observance of precautionary measures and keeps our students, colleagues and guests well informed since the protection of our health is a priority.
Hungary has a low incidence of coronavirus compared to most European countries and worldwide. Our University takes and abides by all measures recommended by health organizations and the Government of Hungary.
One of the most effective ways to prevent the coronavirus is to limit the number of social contacts in dense indoor areas, for which reason our University has switched to online education. The education of future veterinarians has been going on uninterrupted for 233 years, and despite the changed circumstances, the University’s lecturers and staff continue to provide high-quality education.
As of today, our University has a database of 682 online available course materials which is constantly growing! In our next newsletter we will share a short video about our online courses.

Spread the word: future veterinarians are welcome
Due to the ban on visiting higher education institutions we are not allowed to personally host visitors, so we are strengthening our online presence on several platforms.
Do you know students who are interested in our university? Help them to get to know us better! We recommend the following platforms to explore our institution online:
– Visit our Online Information Channels website. Sign up to have an online chat with one of our Admissions Officers. Watch our brand new animated videos about admission process and Budapest in general.
– Take a 360 ° virtual tour of the campus.
– Find out more about the University and its departments with our interactive video.
– On our YouTube channel a number of small videos are available to give an idea about the life as a vet student. (The Testimonials from our current students, the International Day video and the „Horseshoes at the Lecture” are especially recommended!)
– We share all relevant information on our Facebook page with our current and future students as well. Our Instagram page can also be a source of information where we post less “heavy” themed cute animal pictures but also some academically relevant photos.
– The website of the University, available in three languages, contains extensive and detailed information in wide range of topics.
Please help us to share these options with students who wish to study at our university.
As an Alumni member of the University your support means a lot!

Dr Péter Sótonyi, rector of the University was interviewed by Kossuth Rádió
Dr Péter Sótonyi, the rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine, was the guest of the writer, poet and literary historian Mihály Takaró at “The Night” show on Kossuth Radio. During the almost half-an-hour talk, the topics of Professor Sótonyi’s family, life, dedication to horses, public role as well as the significance of the alma mater for the Hungarian veterinary faculty – and for the increasing international veterinary society – were all discussed.
