The influence and the impact of the department on veterinary medicine were determined by former professors Hug\u00f3 Preisz, Alad\u00e1r Aujeszky, Ferenc Hutyra, Rezs\u0151 Manninger, J\u00e1nos M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros, Tam\u00e1s Szent-Iv\u00e1nyi, Adorj\u00e1n Bartha, S\u00e1ndor Tuboly and Tam\u00e1s Tuboly. Several new pathogens were described, characterised and aetiology, pathogenesis, therapy, prevention and control of several infectious diseases were studied at the department. The handbook \u201cSpecial Pathology and Therapy of Diseases of Domestic Animals\u201d written by professors Hutyra and Manninger together with Marek and M\u00f3csy was published 23 times in 18 languages and was widely used in veterinary medicine.
