After learning the basics, students will be able to understand why antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria have become widespread and why their numbers are increasing. This will be combined with an understanding of the scale and rate of use of antibacterial agents over the past decades. In addition, main multiresistant bacterial strains in public and animal health and food safety (ESBL-producing E. coli, MRSA, MRSP, VRSA, VRE, MACI) will be explained. The general guidelines for the use of antibiotics, i.e. pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic aspects, the importance of pharmacokinetic\/pharmacodynamic analysis and the human health relevance of the substances will be presented. In the other topics of the course, the rules and conditions for prudent antibiotic use against the most important bacterial diseases are discussed by animal species. Ultimately, students should be able to determine the most effective and safest antibacterial therapies from a human health perspective, which are important not only to ensure clinical improvement in animals affected with bacterial disease, but also to minimise the chance of the development of bacterial strains resistant to antibacterial agents during therapy.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The course will cover in detail one of the biggest public, animal health and food safety problems of our time, antimicrobial resistance.
