Introduction
I am Dr. Tamás Szűts, a senior lecturer of the Department of Zoology. At the department, I teach and organize the subjects Biogeography, Zootaxonomy and Field Practice III for BSc students. I teach courses in Taxonomy, Exotic Zoology, Microscopic Photography and Molecular Zoology for Master’s students. My broad area of research interest is the taxonomic and systematic research of spiders, as well as the detection and interpretation of patterns in their biogeography and evolution. In addition to my higher education duties, I also participate in the Hungarian and English university preparatory programs of ÁTE.

Main research areas:
Topic management
PhD students: 1
MSc students: 3
BSc students: 8
TDK theses: 3

Thesis topics
Examination of jumping spiders of New Caledonia (taxonomy, DNA barcode)
Study of jumping spiders of New Guinea (taxonomy, DNA barcode)
Molecular taxonomy of velvet spiders
Study of jumping spider reproductive organ evolution

Progress
2019-Present University of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Zoology
2018 Habilitation, University of Veterinary Medicine
2011-2018 ELTE SEK, Department of Biology
2010- 2011 California Academy of Sciences, Schlinger Arachnology Postdoctoral Research Fellow
2009- 2017 Carlsberg Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Department of Entomology, Zoological Museum and University of Copenhagen
2006-2008 Marie Curie Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Entomology, Zoological Museum and University of Copenhagen
1999-2005 Hungarian Natural History Museum Zoo
1999-2004 MTA TKI Zootaxonomy Research Group
1994-1999 József Atilla University certified biologist

Publication list (Top10) MTMT | Google Scholar | ORCID
Szűts, T., Zhang, J.
