The first two issues are now available online and in print, from the founders of the country\u2019s first animal protection law specialisation program, dedicated to advancing science-based animal protection.<\/strong><\/p>

On May 12, 2025, the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest officially presented the inaugural printed issue of Acta Animalia Hungarica (AAH)<\/em>, a scientific journal. The event was hosted by Rector Dr. P\u00e9ter S\u00f3tonyi, one of the journal\u2019s founders, who welcomed distinguished guests, including P\u00e9ter Ov\u00e1di, Government Commissioner for Animal Protection, who was the first to receive a copy of the newly published journal. Founding editors also received the first issues: Dr. Csilla Cs\u00e1k, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Miskolc; Dr. Anita Paulovics, Vice Dean of the same faculty and Editor-in-Chief of AAH; and Dr. Szilvia Vetter, Head of the Animal Protection Law, Analysis and Methodology Center at the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief.<\/p>

AAH is the region\u2019s first bilingual, interdisciplinary scientific journal on animal protection, advocating for a complex, holistic approach to animal welfare and protection. It is published biannually, and the editorial board continuously accepts submissions based on the author guidelines on the journal\u2019s website.<\/p>

The journal is spearheaded by the creators and implementers of Hungary\u2019s first animal protection law specialisation program, committed to reinforcing the scientific foundation of animal protection. A collaboration between the Faculty of Law at the University of Miskolc and the Animal Protection Law, Analysis and Methodology Centre of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest, Acta Animalia Hungarica<\/em> aims to provide a scholarly forum for representatives of various disciplines related to animal protection. It adheres to the principles of sustainability and “One Health, One Welfare,” promoting a holistic perspective on the interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the environment.<\/p>

Other prominent figures in academia have also played a significant role in the creation of the journal. Dr. Gergely Deli, Rector of the University of Public Service, accepted the honorary presidency of the Advisory Board. At the same time, Dr. L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Visnyei, former editor-in-chief of Magyar \u00c1llatorvosok Lapja<\/em>, was named Honorary Chair of the Editorial Board.<\/p>
