In the frame of animal welfare practical training, a group of students from the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest visited the Richter Circus at Kecskemét last week.
At the site, Richter József, the director of the circus showed us around and we could learn more about their daily routine: how they train and take care of the elephants, zebras, and camels. In the circus special attention is paid to the care of these exotic animals – there is a special bond between the trainer and the animal. If the animals are not properly cared and trained, they would probably not be cooperative at all.
“We teach students from all around the world, therefore, it is important for them to meet these animals and get some experiences.” – said Dr. Kinga Fodor professor.
“It was quite an experience: I had the chance to clean the elephant’s feet and eyes. I’ve never got this close to exotic animals. It was amazing.” – said one of our students.
We would like to thank this opportunity to the Richter Circus and to Dr. Kinga Fodor professor for organizing this trip.

It’s not always easy to decide which profession is best for us when we are young. But this summer the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest showed that becoming a veterinarian can be a good choice. With a one-week program, we showed for a bunch of young titans what university studies are like as a vet student and life as a vet. We are sure by the end of the summer school our guests will have a better understanding of what vets do. As a plus, the program took place in vibrant and beautiful Budapest.

[38,1

post-6607","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-featured","category-news
["GET
