The 3rd UVMB Carriage Driving and Cooking Competition was held in the \u00dcll\u0151 Campus on 8th June. The event was opened by Rector Dr. P\u00e9ter S\u00f3tonyi and blessed by Prior Kelemen S\u00e1rai Szab\u00f3, the director of Gy\u0151r\u2019s St. Ignatius Benedictine Church.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a>If we were to describe the event\u2019s atmosphere in one word, \u201crelieved\u201d would be the best expression. Having gotten through the hardest part of the pandemic lockdowns and perhaps the exams, our University\u2019s traditional community event continued as if it had never been cancelled in 2020. The cooking teams, the carriage drivers and their grooms, such as 12-times world champion carriage driver Vilmos L\u00e1z\u00e1r, 9-times world champion carriage driver Zolt\u00e1n L\u00e1z\u00e1r, world champion G\u00e1bor Szegedi, D\u00e1vid Cseri, the head of the Szilv\u00e1sv\u00e1rad Stud, the staff working in the field and at the stands, the referees and the members of the jury and all participants had a pleasant afternoon in a real sunny summer weather.<\/p>

The carriage driving competition was won by Don\u00e1ta B\u00e1nyav\u00f6lgyi, the manager and actress of the National Equestrian Theatre, the runner-up was Dr. Nikoletta Dragov\u00e1cz, the director for coordination affairs of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, while the bronze medal went to MP Dr. Istv\u00e1n Bajkai, a member of the board of J\u00f3zsef Marek Foundation.<\/p>

\u201cI am a bit emotional standing here at the end of a wonderful day, and I hope we can meet and attend this event in the upcoming years as well,\u201d said Dr. P\u00e9ter S\u00f3tonyi after presenting the trophies and thanking Kelemen S\u00e1rai Szab\u00f3 and flag sponsor Katalin Makray Schmitt.<\/p>
