On behalf of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest and Kincsem National Horse Racing and Equestrian Strategy Ltd, Rector Dr. P\u00e9ter S\u00f3tonyi and managing director Istv\u00e1n P\u00e9csi signed a cooperation agreement at the University on 25th May. According to the agreement, the University\u2019s experts will be involved in animal welfare screening tests in gallop racing events organized by the company.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a>Dr. P\u00e9ter S\u00f3tonyi said they started the pre-race health assessment of the horses last year. The agreement between the University and Kincsem Park takes the existing cooperation to a higher level.<\/p>

The Rector also explained that the University had founded its Center for Animal Welfare on 1st January. In addition to dogs and cats, this knowledge centre promotes the welfare of all livestock and farm animals as well. It\u2019s very important to make sure that the races on the park\u2019s magnificent tracks are only run by healthy animals tested by professionals with various measuring instruments, for the pleasure of the owners and the audience.<\/p>

Animal welfare requirements are increasingly important. It is a great honour to see these two prestigious organizations cooperate in a way that is unique in Europe, Istv\u00e1n P\u00e9csi emphasized. The University decided to support the cause on the first request. The managing director added he was proud of the agreement, because they can rest assured that the horses running in Kincsem Park are tested by the best experts.<\/p>
