Zoltán Csukás (1900 – 1957)

Professor, recipient of the Kossuth Award, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. One of the most outstanding personalities of 20th-century Hungarian animal husbandry; veterinarian, agriculturist and economist. Taking over the leadership of our University’s Department of Animal Husbandry in 1944, he also worked as a lecturer of animal husbandry and nutrition. His main focus was on breeding resilient and high-yielding cattle family lines with a long lifespan as well as on the formerly neglected aspects of poultry husbandry.
