Introduction
I received my veterinary degree in 2003 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the then Szent István University. After that, under the supervision of Prof. Miklós Rusvai, I worked as a PhD student from September 2004, then as a clinical veterinarian from 2007, then as an assistant professor, and currently as an associate professor at the Department of Pathology of the University of Veterinary Medicine, where from the beginning I actively participated in diagnostic work, teaching, and in research. Currently, I give pathology, plenary and histopathology exercises as well as lectures in Hungarian and English for third- and fourth-year students.
Main research areas:
- Diagnosis of PRRS, examination and modeling of lung changes that develop during infection, or the role of the maternal/fetal placenta in the transplacental spread of the virus and the characterization of the changes that develop there
- Investigation of the prevalence of atypical swine plague virus, swine parainfluenza virus 1, swine circovirus type 3 and individual parvoviruses in Hungary, the dynamics of infections within the herd and the characterization of the lesions developed in the affected animals
- So-called application of third-generation (Nanopore) sequencing methods in the molecular diagnostics of viral diseases in pigs
- Development of a rapid diagnostic system based on the principle of surface plasmon resonance for the detection of certain viral diseases in pigs
- Antituberculosis drugs targeted with new methods, or the development of vaccines, the histopathological background of their testing in animal models
- Examination of the changes that develop during COVID-19 in a hamster model, as well as drug development against COVID-19
