Márta Lőrincz was born in Mór. After completing high school, she was admitted to the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest in 1997. As a sophomore, she began working at the Veterinary Medical Research Institute. She received her degree in 2003 and, later that same year, she began working as an intern in the Virology Department of the Institute of Animal Health in Debrecen. Subsequently (beginning in September 2004), she joined the Department of Pathology at the university’s Large Animal Clinic. She has been a member of the Department of Epidemiology and Microbiology at the university since February 2008. She earned her PhD in 2014 with a thesis titled “The Evolution of Porcine Circoviruses.” She completed her habilitation in September 2022 and was appointed associate professor in 2025. She successfully completed the Harvard Medical School Fundamentals Immunology course at in 2025. During her time at the department, she supervised numerous student theses two of her PhD students defended their dissertations in 2024.
