Course description

Prerequisites: Veterinary Genetics, Animal Breeding (from the 6th semester).

Lectures: 15 hours/semester

Responsible lecturer: Dr. Zöldág László professor

Aim of the course is to present some of the current research developments in modern horse breeding, and equine genomics. Emphasis is given to the colour genetics and the most significant hereditary diseases.

Held in 5 modules (lectures 5 times 3 hours, spring semester)

Lectures:

1-2-3 lessons: Coat colour genetics and colour genotyping.

3-4-5 lessons: Coat colour genetics and colour genotyping.

7-8-9 lessons: Equine genomics and most relevant hereditary diseases.

10-11-12 lessons: Equine genomics and most relevant hereditary diseases.

13-14-15 lessons: Exam (assay).
