Course description
One of the main pillars of food chain safety is the early diagnosis and professional treatment of diseases affecting production animals. Production Animal Medicine 1. addresses topics of surgery, obstetrics and internal medicine in swine complete with diagnostic and treatment options in both theoretical and practical settings. In surgery, anaesthesia and the most commonly used surgical procedures in the field are detailed. In obstetrics, the knowledge and skills required to establish and maintain proper farm reproductive management are taught. In internal medicine, the topics include the aetiology, pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnostics, treatment and prevention options of the most important gastrointestinal, liver, respiratory, urinary, cardiac, haematopoietic, metabolic, locomotor, neurologic and dermatologic diseases.
