Dear colleagues, Dear students,
It has become a tradition at our university to commemorate the 1956 Revolution with a candlelight memorial. This year, starting in front of the Zimmermann Ágoston lecture hall, we march to the memorial plaque of Zoltán Tatay (temporarily placed on the Library’s wall) with candlelight. Zoltán Tatay was a third-year, excellent veterinary student who was fatally shot on October 24, 1956, in his white cloak, while caring for wounded people.
I kindly ask you to join the memorial with a candle and pay our respects to the heroes of the 1956 Revolution and to Zoltán Tatay.
In collaboration with the World Organization of Hungarian Veterinarians, we award the Tatay Zoltán Veterinary Student Award to a young veterinarian who has earned recognition through their work in the World Organization’s Student Section and by enhancing the reputation of our Alma Mater with a commemorative plaque.
The commemoration will take place on the 24th of October 2023 at 7 p.m., starting in front of the Zimmermann Ágoston lecture hall.
