Universities in the Innovation Ecosystem

 

The National Office for Research, Development and Innovation issued the call for applications for the University Innovation Ecosystem with the aim of creating and operating results-oriented organizational units at as many Universities as possible, which promote the market utilization of scientific results generated at the University, technology transfer, and support the Research, development, technology and innovation (R&D) cooperation between the University and actors in the business sector, as well as the University’s even more active participation in EU research and innovation framework programs.

Title of the project: Creation and operation of a Technology Transfer Office at the University of Veterinary Medicine, in order to encourage R&D activities and collaborations

Total budget: 245 000 000 HUF
Funding rate: 100%

Start of project implementation: 1. December 2019.
Expected completion of the project: 30. November 2023.

The main activities and commitments of the project:

a) Creation and operation of a Technology Transfer Office (TTO), which provides services to lecturers, researchers, students and industrial partners.
b) Strengthening intellectual property management and protection.
c) Changing mindset from basic research to innovation.
d) Supporting the development of innovative ideas of researchers with a chance for market utilization by starting and managing a “Proof of Concept” Fund.
e) Supporting student innovation.
f) Promoting the more active participation of the University of Veterinary Medicine in EU research and innovation framework programs by collecting and sharing information.
g) Organization of knowledge-sharing, and events for lecturers, researchers and students on technology and knowledge transfer, innovation and research management, start-up, intellectual property rights, entrepreneurship and business development topics.
h) Assessment and review of R&D capacities, as well as the development and operation of competence management that utilizes it.
i) Creation and maintenance of a internal knowledge management database.

The solution to the problem of dogs stuck in animal shelters for a long time won the 2nd VETATHON student innovation competition
