Introduction
Dr. Ákos Jerzsele was born in Budapest and, after graduating from high school, was admitted to the Budapest University of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.
Dr. Ákos Jerzsele became a member of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University on December 1, 2004, immediately after receiving his diploma. In 2009, he earned his PhD degree after defending his doctoral dissertation titled “Comparative Pharmacokinetics of Amoxicillin-Clavulanic Acid in Broiler Chickens and Turkeys, and Studies on Bacterial Sensitivity and Stability.” In 2011, he obtained a Specialist Veterinary Clinical Diploma in Small Animal Medicine.
Since 2018, he has been the head of the Department, and since 2019, he has served as the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at the University of Veterinary Medicine.
His main research areas include antimicrobial resistance, antibiotic alternatives, and drug repurposing.
Over the past 20 years, he has supervised nearly 40 undergraduate and Scientific Students’ Association (TDK) theses, with many of his students achieving top positions in Scientific Student Conferences. He also co-supervised a student who received the Pro Scientia Award in the biology section of the National Scientific Students’ Conference (OTDK). Since 2015, he has been actively involved in the TDK Committee as a reviewer and committee member.
Among his doctoral students, five have earned a PhD degree, and he currently supervises three active PhD students.
