“Young Researcher of the Year in Behavioural Sciences” award

In order to preserve the quality of Hungarian ethological and behavioural ecology research, to stimulate further development, and to help the development of next generation researchers, the Hungarian Ethological Society is announcing the now-traditional “Young Researcher of the Year in Behavioural Sciences” award in 2022.

The applications are evaluated by a scientific panel and the prize is awarded by the presidential committee of the Hungarian Ethological Society to the applicant with the most outstanding application based on the scientific career so far.

One can apply if:

  • the research that the application is based on was carried out in a Hungarian institution, or the applicant was a student of a Hungarian institution (including Hungarian institutions beyond the border of Hungary)
  • the applicant has not yet defended his/her PhD dissertation by the application deadline, or a maximum of one year has passed since the successful defense of the dissertation
  • the applicant achieved outstanding scientific results that are suitable for attracting the attention of the national and international research community
  • the application is largely based on the applicant’s own independent work

The award will be presented at the conference, where the winner of the award will present his/her results in a talk (30+5 minutes). The award comes with a certificate and a cash prize of HUF 100,000.

The application should contain the following documents in pdf format:

  1. short professional CV
  2. publication list exported from MTMT (in addition, submitted articles can be attached, please attach submission confirmation from the journal)
  3. a maximum 2-page thesis (Times New Roman font, font size 11pt, 2.5 cm margin) presenting the applicant’s scientific results and future plans
  4. declaration of consent  signed by the supervisor
