Night of Museums at the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest

Each year we participate in the „Night of Museums” event where the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest opens its door to everyone who is interested in animal-related activities and lectures. This year a record number of people attended the event. More than 1500 visitors participated in the pony horseback riding, listened to lectures and dived into the treasure hunt that – as this year’s theme were the Hungarian horse breeds – consisted of mostly horse related puzzles and riddles, letting the visitors get to know more about animals.

This was the 16th year when the doors of the museums open at night, while the almost half a million sleepless revellers have a bewildering choice of almost one thousand events.

“This year’s central topic was linked to the Year of the Families. What binds us: Family and Culture – the title are meant to evoke a wide range of values, secrets awaiting discovery and to inspire the participating institutions. From a historical perspective, every museum has one or more prominent families around whose role and importance the museum itself revolves. On the other hand, a family is a unit that a museum can address: grandparents will teach their grandchildren, parents their children to not only look but also see.” (source: muzej.hu)
