The International Day of University Sport is celebrated annually on 20 September. Hundreds and thousands of university students, institutions, cities and people came together in celebrating the International Day of University Sport on 20 September 2018, making the 3rd edition of IDUS a resounding success. This year the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest has joined to the event series.
“It’s a really cool event for the students, especially to try out some new sport that they can then practice on the campus afterwards.” – said one of the participants.
The International Day of University Sport carries on this tradition by bringing campus and community together. Launched in 2016 and officially proclaimed by UNESCO, the International Day of University Sport on 20 September does more than drive general awareness of the importance of everyday exercising. The day also creates links between universities and their local communities, focused around the sport, physical activity and healthy living.
Among others, the day aims at confirming the importance of sport in universities and the role of universities in the community as responsible actors for consolidating and developing quality physical and sports education at the service of citizens. Each year on 20 September the participants mobilise the academic world.
In this year the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest has participated where the organizers proposed leisure sports activities, competitions to the students of all ages: bubble football, Frisbee show, volleyball competition, wall climbing, tricky cycling and TRX training.
