This year 18 (mostly high school) students from 14 countries and from 3 continents participated in the second Summer School of UVMB in early August. Based on their feedback, the Summer School was successful in giving an idea about what life as a vet student is like in Budapest.
We had accepted applicants from high school students from Ireland, United Kingdom, Iceland, Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Russia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia, South-Africa, and Hong Kong with a strong interest in science subjects and in the field of veterinary science.
The one-week program started with getting to know each other and continued with a series of professional and social activities. All the students highlighted how exciting and new it was for them to attend an anatomical dissection and to participate in anatomy related practices. It was a new element in our program that students had to prepare and present a project work related to animal digestion on which they had worked in groups during the whole week. The last evening of the Summer School we spent with brilliant and education presentations, quizzes, laughter and emotional goodbye. Flourishing friendships were formed in this short but fantastically eventful week, and many of the students expressed how much they are looking forward to meeting again as freshers at UVMB.
