Professor Mahfuzur Sarker, teacher of the Oregon State University visited the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest on the 2nd September 2019 and gave a lecture „The Challenge of Clostridium perfringens Spores”.
Professor Sarker summarised the research of his team on the field of the molecular pathogenesis of the disease caused by C. perfringens A bacterium. He focused on the importance of spore formation, sporulation-regulated enterotoxin production, germination and presented the resistance of the spore against different stress effects, chemicals, heat and high pressure.
