The final evaluation event of the first Proof of Concept (PoC) Programme of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest took place on 9th March 2020. The programme was organised within the framework of the „University Innovation Ecosystem” call of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office. The professors and researchers of the university (and also students involved) were promoted to apply with innovative, early-stage ideas, (products or services) which require scientific evidence and further development.
In addition to the submitted written concepts, 10 out of the 15 applicants got the chance to introduce their concepts to the jury. They were helped by mentors, experienced in innovation in preparing their detailed concept.
The jury of five consisted of company leaders and three university representatives of which one was a professor from Yale University, and two of them were employees of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest.
6 applicants were granted a PoC fund of 6,7 million HUF (apx. €18.650) each.
