“Where heroes are not forgotten, there will always be new ones.”
On 29th of May 2020, the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest, the Hungarian Veterinary Association and the Hungarian Veterinary Chamber held a ceremonial commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony in front of the memorials on the walls of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, the Department of Chemistry and the library. On Heroes’ Day, we commemorate the Hungarian soldiers and civilians who, defended Hungary and died a heroic death in the battles of the last 1000 years.
After listening to the Hymn, veterinary student Ariella Roxana Horváth recited Pál Gyulai’s poem The tomb of heroes, then Mihály Takaró, József Attila and Hungarian Heritage Prize-winning literary historian gave his speech. This was followed by the placement of flower wreaths at three memorials of the university.
