Dr. Imre Bodó was greeted with love and respect on the occasion of his 90th birthday. The first to extend their greetings on October 7th at the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest was Dr. Péter Sótonyi, the rector.
“Only a few people are capable of combining theory and practice to such an extent as the honoree, whom I met at the Department of Animal Breeding in 1974 when he arrived from Herceghalom upon the invitation of Artúr Horn,” added Dr. Péter Sótonyi. “I am grateful for getting to know him, be his student and colleague. His work had a tremendous impact on Hungarian animal breeding!”
The university leader greeted the professor with a certificate and a miniature replica of the Puli statue erected in the park while presenting the professor’s wife with a bouquet of flowers.
Dr. Imre Bodó was born on October 4, 1932, in Budapest. He started working at the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest as an assistant professor in 1974 and became the head of the department ten years later. In addition to his role in saving the Hungarian Grey Cattle, which preserved the outstanding value of our country, he is also associated with the establishment of the iconic statue of the Csatlós Bull on the university campus.
