The solution to the problem of dogs stuck in animal shelters for a long time won the 2nd VETATHON student innovation competition

Students from 6 countries applied for the innovation competition “New technological solutions in animal health and animal husbandry” held for the second time in cooperation between the University of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Óbuda. Each team included students from the two universities, thus ensuring that multidisciplinary proposals combining veterinary and engineering/IT solutions were created. The teams of students were supported by 11 mentors, during the marathon competition, which lasted from 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 21 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at the Óbuda University’s campus on Bécsi Street.

The first place was won by the Puppy World team, which responded to the challenge of dogs stuck in shelters for a long time with an online platform. The members of the winning team share a total of HUF 500,000 in prizes. The Waste Warriors team finished in second place with a solution designed to combat food waste, primarily for businesses and the third was the Foo Foo team, which offers an online information solution aimed at young pet owners.

As a next step, expert colleagues will examine how to further help and support the development and implementation of the solutions created in the competition.

Congratulations to the students who participated and who achieved the position!

We would also like to thank the sponsors of the event for their generous donations, and to make it possible to reward the members of the teams for their achievements. Sponsors of the event:
