The Livestock and Food Chain Safety College was founded in November 2023 by students dedicated to livestock medicine. It began its active operations in the spring of 2024. Since then, the enthusiastic volunteer team has continuously organized lectures, site visits, and community programs, allowing interested individuals to participate in numerous professional and community events throughout the semester.
The official patron of the college is Dr Miklós Süth, Director of the Institute of Food Chain Science, and there is also close cooperation with the staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Food Animal Medicine Clinic, as well as the Department of Animal Hygiene, Herd Health and the Mobile Clinic.
Since its establishment, the college’s membership has grown to nearly 70, and the organizers aim to attract even more students to livestock medicine by expanding the program offerings. Through the college’s events, members can connect with various professionals, such as veterinarians, livestock breeders, and economic experts, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how agriculture truly operates. The college also seeks practical placements where members can gain valuable experience, supporting their professional development.
However, the primary goal is not only professional development but also building a strong community. The college brings together students who share similar interests, fostering close relationships during university years that could prove beneficial throughout their professional careers.
Membership is announced at the beginning of each semester, and details can be found on the college’s social media pages.
