UVMB has joined the RAKIP Initiative international professional platform

The University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest has joined the Risk Assessment Knowledge Integration Platform (RAKIP) initiative as a full member, becoming part of a European scientific collaboration.

The aim of RAKIP is to align, develop, and share food chain safety risk assessment models on a common knowledge platform. The initiative plays a key role in harmonising European risk assessment methodologies and introducing modern, artificial intelligence -based solutions.

The founding and current operating institutions of the platform are:

  • ANSES, French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (France)

  • BfR, Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung (Germany)

  • DTU Food, National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark (Denmark)

The invitation to the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest is the result of a successful professional collaboration, during which our staff have recently been involved in developing risk assessment models. Following this, the RAKIP steering committee unanimously supported the University’s admission as a full member for the 2025-2027 cycle.

On behalf of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest, Dr. Zsuzsa Farkas (Institute of Food Chain Science, Department of Digital Food Science) serves as the representative and contact person.

Within the framework of RAKIP, our University primarily contributes to the expansion of the international knowledge base through:

  • its previous aflatoxin risk assessment models,

  • methodologies developed within the CONTEMFood project, and

  • the development of common European modelling standards.

This accession represents a significant step in strengthening the UVMB’s international relations, increasing its research visibility, and further developing its role within the European food chain safety community.
