On September 18, the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest’s SAM-buddy peer mentoring programme continued with a team-building event. The event brought together 120 students, including 50 senior students serving as mentors. Through a series of fun, team-based activities, mentors and first-year mentees had the opportunity to get to know one another and start building connections.
This year’s SAM-buddy programme brings together 160 senior student mentors and 160 first-year students from a total of 38 countries who have joined the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest. The aim of the team-building event was to give mentors and mentees an opportunity to connect in person and lay the foundations for their collaboration over the coming weeks.
As part of the SAM-buddy programme, senior students support their first-year peers for eight weeks, helping them settle into university life. Following a structured, week-by-week programme, mentors guide first-year students through the challenges of their first weeks at university, offering practical advice and sharing their own experiences to help them find their balance. The programme is coordinated and professionally supervised by the Student Support and Counselling Office of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest.
