Introduction:
I am Hunor Takács-Vágó, a PhD student at the Department of Zoology. As part of my doctoral work, I am investigating the jumping spiders living on the island of Papua New Guinea, and within this my main area of interest is the jumping spiders belonging to the extremely interesting genus Bathippus living here, as well as the ant-mimicking species living on the island. The main directions of my research are the taxonomic examination of the species living here, the description of new species, and the examination of sexual selection on these spiders.
Main research areas:
- Description of new species belonging to genera Bathippus and Canama
- Description of ant-mimicking species belonging to the genus of Myrmarachne from the island
- The jumping spider fauna of Mt. Wilhelm
- Study on the sexual selection of New Guinean jumping spiders
