Total medical care of internal patients is provided. Beside the traditional physical examination, modern instrumental ancillary diagnostic aids and clinical laboratory background are accessible.

Endoscopy

Examination of the airways (larynx, trachea, bronchi, guttural pouch), the stomach and the duodenum, the rectum, the urethra and the urinary bladder can be performed by an Olympus flexible video endoscope system

Ultrasonography

Ultrasonographic examinations are carried out with a BK Medical flexFocus 2012 ultrasound system. Three, different transducers are used. The system is suitable for the examination of the heart, the thorax, and the abdominal cavity. Using the special linear head, the abdominal organs can be examined with rectal ultrasonography as well.

Holter ECG (24 hours)

This device is used for the continuous examination of the heart at rest and during training. RS 800CX Equine Polar Heart Rate Monitor helps in the heart rate measurement and in the heart rate variability measurement in rest and during exercise.

Radiology

The digital X-ray system is suitable for the examination of the thoracic and abdominal cavity in foals, and the thoracic cavity in adult horses.

Treadmill

The Mustang 2200 high-speed treadmill can be used for exercise tests, but it is useful in diagnostics of performance limiting subclinical diseases combined with Holter ECG, Polar heart rate monitor or endoscopy.

Clinical laboratory

The following examinations can be performed in our laboratory using automatic equipments:

• haematology;
• serum, synovia, liquor and punctates biochemistry;
• clotting profile;
• blood gas analysis;
• ionometry;
• urinalysis;
• faecal parasitology and cytology.
