The cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes catalyze the metabolism of numerous endogenous and exogenous compounds. The enzymes of the CYP1, CYP2 and CYP3 families primarily take part in the transformation of drugs and other xenobiotics. Any alterations occurring in the activity of the CYP450 enzymes have an effect on the formation of the drug metabolites in the body. These hem containing, endoplasmic reticulum bound enzymes can be found in basically any organism although their quantity and activity is species specific, the liver contains CYP enzymes in the highest amount.
We determine the effect of beneficial feed additives on CYP450 enzyme system, CYP enzyme activity, CYP gene expression will be measured by luminescence and qRT-PCR methods, respectively in rabbits, chickens and pigs both in vivo and in vitro.
