Food has an important role in the epidemiology of emerging and re-emerging diseases. The general aim of the study is to determine the incidence of selected bacteria, Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp. and Listeria monocytogenes, mostly responsible for foodborne illnesses, and viruses associated with food, namely Noroviruses, hepatitis A virus and hepatitis E virus, as well as human Adenovirus, bovine Polyomavirus and porcine Adenovirus indicating faecal contamination in the investigated foods.
The investigations are performed in collaboration of the Department of Food-hygiene and the Virology Workgroup of the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
