Soil invertebrates of urban habitats (biodiversity reservation)

Habitats under anthropogenic influence may play an important role in spreading, dispersal and establishment of species. Nowadays more and more species occurre in anthropogenic habitats of far geographic distances by human transport. After establishment, adaptation these species may dispers into new habitats endangering local communities. In our studies we plan to investigate and compare the soil invertebrate fauna of different urban habitat types (from hot houses through parks, established forest to remnants of nature-close habitat fragments). During previous studies we have proved the presence of several species new to the Hungarian soil fauna. There are exciting ecological processes behind the phenomena of succesful establishment (adaptation, life history strategies etc.)
