II. Magyar Zootaxonómiai Conference
We cordially invite you to the 2nd Hungarian Zootaxonomy Conference, which will be held for two days this year, on 27th 28th of November 2025 (Thursday and Friday) in the Auditorium of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest (1078 Budapest, István u. 2).
Registration is open, you can access it by CLICKING HERE.
The scientific program of the conference will start 9:00 AM on November 27th and last until 5:50 PM. There will be an informal discussion in the Aula. On the second day, November 28th, the scietific program will start at 9:00 AM and will end depending on the number of presentations.
In addition to the traditional 15-minute presentations (ideally: 10 minutes of presentation + 5 minutes of questions and answers), posters can also be presented at the conference, and of course, you can also register as a participant. We strongly recommend the latter for university students and high school students interested in zootaxonomy.
The primary goal of the conference is, of course, the same as that of any other conference in the field: to present our results to our colleagues and discuss them. It is not necessary to report on an active topic or results, but the research topic, the taxon, and its interestingness can also be presented, since one of the biggest priorities of the conference is the education of future generations. Since the event attracted many young people based on last year’s positive experiences, the evening discussion will be adapted to their needs (details later).
We have invited two internationally recognised colleagues (see below) who will give plenary lectures.
The lectures can be given in English or Hungarian, but a Hungarian abstract will definitely be required (please use google translate and ask help from the organizers). We ask the Hungarian participants to prepare their slides in English if possible.
Plenary talks:
Dr. Nesrine Akkari Curator of the collection Myriapoda, Naturhistorisches Museum, Wien
Dr. Yuri Kantor Leading researcher, A.N. Severtzov Institute of Ecology and Evolution: Moscow, Russian Federation
Registration for the conference is free of charge. The rooms are provided by the University of Veterinary Medicine, and coffee and scones are provided by the HUN-REN Agricultural Research Center. The conference is supported by the Academic Publishing House, publisher of the journal Animal Taxonomy and Ecology and Pensoft. Food and drinks can be brought into the Aula, and the social event will last until 9:00 p.m. The lunch break will be 90 minutes, during which everyone can have lunch in the numerous restaurants in the area.
