Living Traditions: First Anatomy Class – Horses on the Lectern

On Monday, September 9, 2024, Prof. Dr. Péter Sótonyi, the rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest, held the now traditional and special first anatomy lecture. Once again, students eagerly watched the impressive demonstration by the university’s rector, who is also the head of the Department of Anatomy and Histology. The well-trained horses from the Police Readiness Unit assisted with the demonstration this year as well.

During the first class, students were introduced to basic anatomical concepts, dozens of Latin terms, as well as the planes and regions of a horse’s body. The practical experiences gained with the help of the “four-legged demonstrators” will remain with the students until they become active participants in animal healing during their clinical studies.
