Strategic co-operation between the University of Veterinary Medicine and SZTNH in the field of intellectual property protection

The University of Veterinary Medicine and the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (SZTNH) have signed a co-operation framework agreement that elevates the support for intellectual property protection in university research & development, and innovation to a new level. The goal of this collaboration is to provide university lecturers, researchers, and students with high-level knowledge in industrial property rights and copyright, as well as access to the “patent fast track,” thereby facilitating the market utilization of research results.

One of the University’s strategic objectives is the research & development, and innovation, along with the practical application of related achievements. Under this agreement, SZTNH experts will actively participate in university education, providing consultancy and professional programs to support the transfer of knowledge in intellectual property protection. University students, lecturers, and researchers will have access to numerous mentoring and training opportunities. A key feature of the agreement is the “patent fast track,” which enables researchers to gain information regarding the patentability of their inventions faster and more efficiently. This provides an opportunity for the protection and market utilization of scientific and technological innovations born at the University to be realized in a globally competitive manner.

Prof. Dr. Péter Sótonyi, rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine, stated: “Intellectual property protection plays a crucial role in the research and development activities conducted at the University of Veterinary Medicine. The agreement with SZTNH not only strengthens our university’s innovation capacity but also enhances the long-term value of our scientific and industrial collaborations on both national and international levels.”

Our shared objective is to increase awareness; therefore, under the agreement, SZTNH experts will take part in incubation programs, innovation competitions, and awareness-raising events organized by the University. Additionally, they will jointly develop research grant applications and scholarship programs in the field of intellectual property protection.

Another explicit goal of this collaboration is to ensure the secure, legally protected utilization and commercialization of scientific achievements.
