Introduction
I am Dr. Tamás Szűts, a senior lecturer of the Department of Zoology. At the department, I teach and organize the subjects Biogeography, Zootaxonomy and Field Practice III for BSc students. I teach courses in Taxonomy, Exotic Zoology, Microscopic Photography and Molecular Zoology for Master’s students. My broad area of research interest is the taxonomic and systematic research of spiders, as well as the detection and interpretation of patterns in their biogeography and evolution. In addition to my higher education duties, I also participate in the Hungarian and English university preparatory programs of ÁTE.
Main research areas:
- taxonomy of tropical spiders (Africa, New Guinea, Middle East).
- taxonomic revision of domestic spiders
- taxonomy of different families of spiders (woodlice hunters, velvet spiders and jumping spiders).
- evolution and biogeography of spiders
- molecular taxonomy
