Dr. Georgios Amiridis received his veterinary degree in 1986 from the University of Thessaloniki, Faculty of Veterinary Science. He successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in 1996 at the University of Glasgow, Faculty of Veterinary Science. He directed or took part as a participant in numerous national and international research tenders. He continues to have an extensive publishing activity, as indicated by the number of articles published in prestigious international scientific journals and the number of lectures held at and posters presented at international conferences. In addition, he finds the time, energy, and enthusiasm to train young professionals.
Dr. Amiridis has been an instructor and leading lecturer at the University of Thessaloniki, Faculty of Veterinary Science (Greece) since 1998, and has been for many years – besides his work as an instructor at the University of Thessaloniki – a regularly returning guest lecturer at our Faculty. Every year he holds lectures – with great success – for students participating in the English-language training program at the Department of Obstetrics within the framework of the "Assisted Reproduction" optional subject introduced by our Department. A few years ago he also gave lectures to PhD students as a part of the "Andrology and Assisted Reproduction" course that was met with great interest (not only by the PhD students from our Faculty). I want to especially emphasize that Professor Amiridis always gladly accepts our invitations to the lectures and travels to Hungary on his own expense.
In recent years a close co-operation developed between the Greek and Hungarian research teams, not only in the field of education, but also in the field of research. We have had several joint series of research projects, the results and experiences of which have been published in prestigious scientific journals.
Professor Amiridis works and has worked extensively to coordinate and maintain the fruitful cooperation between both veterinary training faculties in the field of education and research.
