As part of the celebrations commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Hungarian veterinary service, a centaur statue was unveiled at 11 o’clock on 14th October 2013. The centaur represents the veterinarian’s work and veterinary service. Endre Kardeván, state secretary, chief veterinarian of the veterinary service, Márton Oravecz, president of the Nationals Food Chain Safety Office, Péter Sótonyi, dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, SZIU, and the sculptor, Attila Boros held speeches. The new statue can be found between the students’ centre and the building of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.
125 outstanding professionals were awarded the miniature of the centaur statue on 15th October 2013 at the conference entitled The future of food chain safety held by the Ministry of Rural Development and the National Food Chain Safety Office. Péter Sótonyi, dean, Tibor Bartha, Róbert Farkas, Tibor Németh, Tamás Tuboly, vice deans, and László Fodor, the previous dean of the faculty were also among those awarded.
