Ákos Azary (1850 – 1888)

Professor of internal medicine, epidemiology, regulatory veterinary medicine and meat-inspection.

He was the first to apply modern examination methods in internal medicine, such as the plessimeter (percussion plate and hammer made of horn) or the endotracheal tube – tools that were later named after him.

He was dedicated to bacteriology and was ardently striving for the official introduction of vaccines against anthrax and swine erysipelas.
