Sándor Tolnay (1748-1818)

Professor of „ars veterinaria”, the original founder of this institution.

He was the founder and developer of Hungarian veterinary education, authoring and translating several books and textbooks in Latin and in Hungarian. He was the basic organizer of animal health administration in Hungary. With his modern approach to epidemiology, he significantly contributed to the control and repression of animal epidemics raging the country at that time.
